personality disorders.
Unlike other health problems that are treated by a specific healthcare specialty, there are several different mental health professions. Each profession defines its own area of expertise, and these areas overlap considerably.
This website presents information about each of the different mental health professions, but allows consumers to evaluate the pros and cons of selecting a treatment provider from one of the professional groups,
based on their individual treatment needs. The professional groups licensed to provide mental health treatment in New Jersey are:
